I think the hours are worse than the work, but the boss is worse than the hours. Last weekend I busted my ass both days, got yelled at by another journeyman for going too quick, had to deal with less than ideal conditions, and I felt better than I do after 46 hours on this job.
Last weekend we were hooking up 2MW generators with parallel feeds to the gear. We were using 4/0 cam lock weld cables. Saturday involved hooking up three sets of parallel feeds for a 3 phase 480 system (9 current carrying conductors and one ground for 10 total runs) that had to cover about 250 feet. Each 50 foot cable is about 50 pounds. I humped most of them around and felt great doing it. Sunday was a little easier due to more people but I still had to move a lot of cables.
I love doing what I do for work, I just greatly despise some of those that I work for.
