Yeah, except it's $550 and is way out of the $200 budget.

Amazon.com: LG Electronics 32LN530B 32-Inch 720p 60Hz LED TV (2013 Model): Electronics
It's not a 50" but its on SALE @ $199+ shipping and is a great price if you ask me for a person who isn't a die hard clarity fan or needs the best TV on the market.
4k ftw.My issue with that is I wouldn't buy a 720P tv anymore. Even my 24" tv in the kitchen is a 1080P display.
It does matter if you scale a 1080P signal back to 720P it will always look worse no matter what you do.

Agreed, that is why I prefaced it with as long as they are not picture snobs like ChrisJthen this TV is a good buy. As a TV for a guestroom it would be perfect but it is def not the cream of the crop @ that price point.
Hell my parents have 2 old big A$$ tube TV's in their guest rooms and I have thought about buying them one of these so when I stay I can at least see the damn thing from the bed lol. Even 720P crushes what I have been watching when I stay there for a weekend, plus it has HDMI outputs so they can get a real cable box!!
Do they do a lot of cooking?

Hey man,
I will not give a friend what I consider to be bad advice....
Yes, my mom does. They don't like to go out for dinner much, rarely have as long as I've been alive.
And yes, I know a lot about quality cookware and cutlery and if anyone has a problem with that, tough ****.![]()

How about a new laptop?? I saw the 2 in 1 tablet keyboard things onsale for the school year at or near $200 almost everyplace. Be good if they have an old PC that is slow and gets them into a tablet also for a good price.
I've decided to get Kindle Fire HD for the folks - they are both readers, but I see mom playing games on it and dad reading.
I think it'll work quite good. I'm deliberating signing them up for the Kindle Unlimited plan, but I've read that not all major publishers will have their books available on it. Basically, Kindle Unlimited may be like Netflix, where you get mostly 'meh' titles rather than being like Spotify, where you get all the new releases and goodies.
