Engine Bay Heat

Dave was talking about the edge where aerodynamics would be pushing down. The Seibon air vents are a long way from the edge and the air flow would be over the vents. Per my Ultragauge the temps dropped considerably, I can not recall the exact number but say the difference between 215 to 220 degrees before installing and 197 to 203 since installing. In between tuned was around 210. I did not write the numbers down so the only ones that are certain are the 197 to 203.

Incidentally I run a lower temp if cruising in 4th or 5th, when running higher rpms and ignoring the flashing up arrow.

I remember reading about the thermostat being designed to lower temperature based upon load demand. Heavier load lower temp to provide more power as needed hence the lower temp at higher rpm. I would love to see a diagram of the system that controls our electronic tstat.

So if this is true, does that mean to get the absolute best freeway mileage you should hold the throttle in a steady position? Instead of pulsing like I do? Because that would then cause the engine to run cooler since it thinks you need the extra power... right??

I have another one.. For the people that have the Seibon hood with the vents, does it make your engine run cooler or does your computer see the temperature change and counteract it?

Same just checking I use the torque and it read 97 intake temp at 80 mph with 87 ambient temp on the 1.8 trying to get it a Lil cooler
