A wise investment for any vehicle is a Ultragauge or Scangauge. You can read the check engine codes and quickly diagnose the CEL.
Plus, you can monitor things from the gauge that you can't with the factory gauges... for example the coolant temp. I was a bit surprised to see how hot the 1.4L Turbo runs... 220F.

I don't want this to sound mean but. If you have owned a car after MY 1996 then you have dealt OBD codes
How are we supposed to guess over the internet as to what the issue is with your car. Get the CEL pulled. Autozone, Advanced, etc... will pull codes for free (though I can't fathom not owning a OBDII scanner these days).
If this still is no good for you then take it to the dealer.
Someone will Mod their SAB, bolt a ass load of aftermarket parts on the car (Not the op's situation but it does happen... Come to EVOland for a day) and say why is the car throwing codes and expect the masses to know

PS. 9k on factory fill makes me cringe. If you want to follow the OLM at least get UOA's done from here on out so you know if the oil is actually still working at that point. Oh and use the correct weight jeez.
Or if you don't give two sh!ts about the car then hell with it

Modified stock air box, and no rear cat or muffler on exhaust!
I called onstar and they did a test, they said take it in with in 7 days! Something with emissions...

Modified stock air box = in a matter of time an emissions related code. As far as I know the only way around it is a modified engine control unit.

I like my UG a lot, but I like it less than I did when I got it, because with successive mods it has become less and less accurate. But among the many things it still does well is reading CEL codes... and another is clearing CEL codes. With mods comes CEL's, and there's no need, 99% of the time, to go pay a garage money to tell you what you already knew, and to clear the code.
Autozone etc all will come out with their own scanner and tell you what the code you're getting is, which might help us diagnose your problem. But I don't think they'll clear the code, which means if it's something you can fix, you then need to what, unplug the battery and wait for the memory to wipe itself? Something like that. Still, it will be something you can get done while waiting for your UG or whatever to arrive in the mail.

Hour after my fist oil change (5k and I get $10 oil changes for life half synthetic) My light came on. . . they said it was "running lean" and reprogramed the computer. . . I figured they were full of bull. . . but what do I know?

And CEL's come on for a reason as well.... That's why codes are important. And also realize that the GM Tools can pull more info than just a code, it actually gives them the info we might be able to find online and then much more.

I am confused. All you did was cut some small holes to let more air in and now you are wondering why OnStar identifies your car as having a potential emissions problem? Something is not adding up. Maybe getting the actual CEL number(s) will help. It is very likely once the codes are cleared they will not return, but I can not help but think your small intake mod could throw a code while the ecm is adjusting to the change.
