IMHO don't worry about it until you actually need to smog it. im thinking of running it open after the down pipe for a while and see how i like it. you don't have to worry smog for 6 more years or until you get pulled over. in either case just bolt the stock parts on and smog it.

after work today im going to pull it apart at the flanges, first im going to remove the resonator and everything behind it. if its not loud enough im pulling th second cat and running it open after the flex pipe. ill try and get some good video of and pics of everything as i do it.

I left the second cat in for now its just open after and its LOUD almost too much, I'm thinking about coming up with something to pipe it a bit further back because I can feel the exhaust in my seat. It turned my chair into a vibration massage seat! I'll post pics and bid tomorrow when I get to work and can use the internet there. Too much to do on the phone for how tired I am

P.S.-How did you remove the whole rest of the back exhaust, cut or take apart your rear torsion beam to unbolt everything? If I like it maybe you could help me out with this too!

I cut the muffler off at the torsion bar a while back, two 1/2in nuts and three hangers is all that's holding you back. I had to borrow my Buddy's reciprocating saw to cut the muffler it took maybe five minutes. Be warned there is allot of drone or a "thrum" as some people like to call it.

drone is that annoying buzz you will get at certain RPM/load conditions, usually when the exhaust is lacking a resonator..

sorry the sound of your car didnt turn out as well as you'd like.. depending on where you cut your exhaust you could try just hooking up the resonator part and putting a down turn tip on it.

it just depends on the person, i love the sound its not really a problem for me. i just wanted to warn others of the impending doom if they hate the thrum/drone.

WTH-your video sound is way too low (quiet), I couldn't hardly hear a thing lol! I thought it was supposed to be hella loud, your recorder wasn't good, use another one next time or swing by Elk Grove this weekend so I can see/hear it for myself in person. I must experience this drone you speak of also, the best way would be to ride in your car while you drove around, that way I can see if i'll like it.

Also, you said since it's very short underneath it rumbles your seat & produces alot of extra heat inside, that don't sound too good. I'll have to see for myself on this **** too, but so far it don't sound too good (more negatives than positives, but we'll see). I want some cheap loudness, but this might be a 'lil too extreme for me.

I wouldn't say i can feel the heat in the in the car, but you can feel the exhaust throughout the car like the vibrations and what not. The video was a bit quite sorry about that, it's hard for cell phones to pick up on all of the sounds exhaust makes. I shot it from inside with the windows up because it was really windy out and it made the audio sound horrible. My buddy at work said he would bring in his HD Handycam on Monday so hopefully he will and I can get some better videos up.

**** bro, I'll be busy all day Sun @ the WTCC in Sonoma, maybe next wknd. Yeah your video's sound quality was very bad, next time use a real vid recorder instead of your cell phone lol! I've got drone on mine. I removed the muff and resonator and welded stock diameter 1.75" pipe in their place (for now). The exhaust sounds awesome! Throaty and mean for such a small displacement, but the drone can be annoying.

The best I can describe the drone is that at steady engine speeds on the freeway, around 2000 RPM, the exhaust note hits a frequency that is less than enjoyable, i.e. annoying. It doesn't sound "bad", actually it sounds like a B52 bomber carrying it's payload over the sea, but after 5 minutes of it, it starts to wear on your comfort level and fatigue your ability to ignore it.

I don't mind it so much. The stereo easily drowns it out. But if you're driving a long trip with friends that you want to converse with, it's............ Annoying.
