Oh I don't know, either that phone's recorder ain't good or your exhaust sounds like ****. I'd expect it to be much louder & rumbly (aggressive) like the straight pipes I've already heard on here. I still would like to listen/see it all for myself though, just to make sure. We need to meet up someday soon since we're both close to eachother.

I'm in Elk Grove, I work swing shift & don't get off 'till real late, so I sleep in late 'till the afternoon before I start work again. Arden area would be kinda far before I work (I work here in EG too), so I dunno, maybe we can meet up somewhere halfway on the weekend or something?

i live in rocklin so driving to sac on a non workday is a pain, every friday and saturday night there is a meetup for cars of all kinds in roseville at the sonic drive in

Don't you know, Sonic's are infamous for cops, they always scope them out since everyone likes to meet up there for some reason (don't matter where it's at either). I'd rather just meet up with you since it's your car, specifically your exhaust, that I'm trying to see/hear. I'll think of something in the meantime...

Roseville cops have better things to worry about, I've been meeting there for years without a single issue. I've actually seen them chatting people up about their cars and one did a burnout for us...

you should have seen the one at the lollicup meet, he was revving up and doing tranny drops, it was a blast. Roseville cops are cool as long as your not being a dummy on the street.

Yo Tmo, maybe you can help me out since you've already done this, but if the second cat is unbolted (opened up), will it get damaged by the cold since it's now exposed to the elements? Does it throw any codes with just the second cat & nothing after it? I'm really wanting to do this, I'll just keep my resonator if I don't like it so I can bolt it back up (I was going to get rid of that awful, ugly muffler that looks like it's ****ing rusting already so no worries in cutting off that pos). I wish I could see/hear your setup first, but we both work far from eachother during the week & are too busy on the weekends (at least I am). How did you cut off your exhaust pipe? Maybe you can help me do this project also sometime this Sat or Sun since you have experience in doing it already. I want my car to sound mean & right now it's way too quiet for me, plus it looks ugly stock. Lmk homie, post up or text me, later!

no codes at all, it was a really easy task with a jack and jack stands i got it done in no time.
first thing you will need to do is cut off the muffler, i used a 6 inch metal blade on a reciprocating saw and it cut through it like butter! you are going to want to cut it near/over the torsion bar be ready to catch it and then remove the rubber hanger mount. then all you need is to unbolt the resonator from the second cat. IIRC its two 1/2 bolts then two more hangers.
i didn't weigh it but i shaved about 30lbs with this as well.
the videos do not do it justice it is loud mean and grumbles. i took it to the dealership the other day and all of the sales guys couldn't believe it was a sonic, even the guys in the service depart came out to see what the loud car was and some jaws had dropped
that being said other than the cutoff muffler everything would bolt back up no problem so what are you waiting for?!?

I mean since it'll be opened up from unbolting it now, what happens when it's really cold outside or when it gets wet inside from when it eventually rains? I don't wanna ruin a perfectly good cat cuz that ****'s hella expensive to replace!

Yeah, now that's what I'm talking about (loud & grumbly)! I don't care about cutting up that fugly stock muffler & piping cuz I'm gonna throw it all away anyways, I'm just gonna keep the resonator in case I have to bolt it back on later. I was thinking about cutting right at the tip of the res so the piping will be nice & short. That's hella funny about the dealership, bet they initially thought it was a Vette or some other muscle car, not a 'lil Sonic! I'm free anytime this weekend, lmk if your down to help me out on this exhaust project, I'd like to check out your car first to know if I like it for sure though (I'm pretty confident I will). no worries on a cat getting wet, you ever seen water come out of an exhaust right after a car was or truck was started? it will be fine.
and i wouldn't mind giving you a hand i'll have to ask my buddy if we can use his tools (that's how i got it done) but i wouldn't ask him that i can take them any where so you would have to meet me in antelope.

Thanks Tmo for trying to help out, but I just went ahead & had my local exhaust shop do it for me. He cut off all that back end crap (muffler & piping), welded on new angled tip on my resonator (if I ever want to put it back on the hot exhaust won't hit anything underneath), & unbolted it from the second cat. Was very quick & cheap. Boy, you were right, it's ****ing hella loud now, but there's alot of ear piercing drone that everyone keeps talking about since it's right under the car. I don't know if I can stand it forever, but it does sound badass! Can't wait to see my wife's reaction, she'll probably hate it, but I'll run with it for now since I went through all the trouble, hopefully I don't get any unwanted popo attention lol!
