Headunit/Dash Kit Information

I was on Crutchfields website yesterday and when I went to order a Kenwood Navigation head unit, it gave me the option of getting this metra kit for $99.00.

I just made sure, but I happen to be a metra dealer...I will try to get my price on Monday...Im installing a 2way starter in mine and will be on the phone with them anyway...:banana:

Metra 40-EU55 (met-40eu55) Antenna Adapter Cable for Select 2002- Do I connect the BLUE wire that comes with this adapter to the P. ANT for the power antenna on the back of my Headunit harness? I would think that since the anntenna doesn't go up and down I wouldn't think I'd need to.

I would because it has something like an amplifier built onto it. All the antenna adapters we sell dont have that amplifier

Thanks, will do. I hooked up the harness to the Axxcess box and to my vehicle and everything except for the harness to the back of my unit and have the T?C and stability light on my dash....perhaps it needs the headunit hooked up to complete the circuit...or I hooked up something incorrect

For the record, that is the one I bought. I didn't use the blue wire, and it works perfect.

And AFAIK, the T/C and stability don't even pass through the radio, but I could be wrong.

Yea they shouldnt have anything to do with the radio. Let us know once you get the radio installed if it goes away. Make sure you arent leaning on it too lol

Does anyone have this kit that DID use the blue wire? If you didn't use the blue wire and it work then I will not use the blue wire. As far as amplifier on teh harness the harness is small and doesn't appear to have an amplifier built into it. I guess an extra 12V to the antenna couldn't hurt anything....or could it

No it wont hurt anything at all. You dont have to use it. I just figured since ur back there y not just hook it up. But no you dont need it.

Questions are good. I have never paid attention to things like smart phones and connectivity before, and now if I decide to get a smart phone I will have some info learned from questions asked to guide my search.

So most questions are a contribution, at least in my eyes.

Also there is a brown mute wire that I attached to the brown mute wire on my kenwood harness. There is also a pink tel mute wire from the metra harness and in the booklet it says "we won't use the pink wire in this application"....then why is it there? It also says the black/pink wire for the 20pin harness "will be talked about later" but I don't see anything in the booklet that talks about it being used.

The wire harness connectors look like the same connectors used for ATX motherboard power connectors. Can anyone confirm this?

The connections I think you're talking about are the connections that goto the Axcess box that retain the steering wheel controls. And yes they do look like that

There are 2 Metra kits, one kit comes with the axcess and the other doesn't. eBay auctions have their item description wrong on some of the auctions that state it retains controls but it doesn't. I've purchased and returned one...

Ive yet to see one that actually comes with the axxess box for the steering wheel controls. The more expensive one has extra connections for your auxilary connections, onstar, etc. it has a harness for the steering wheel control unit but not the unit itself.
