Knocking coming from brake drum

Not sure if anyone has had this issue..Ive noticed when im coming slowly to a stop, my left rear brake drum knocks along with the wheel rotation. Im not 100% its the drum itself but its in that location. Its probably not covered by the dealer so i dont want to pay them lol. Any advise or any ideas what this could be? Ive never had a car with drum brakes so....

take it to a brake shop. they should do brake checks for free.

Like pep boys or someone that just does brakes?

It is covered take it to the dealer.... usually that is an issue with the drum machined surface.. Warranty!

Firestone does it, Meineke, AAMCO, etc. just google free brake inspection near you.

The reason you hear it on one side is due to the direction the brake lathe turns the drum. The shoe is walking out and the springs are snapping it back against the backing plate. Dealer will replace the drum....

Just got off the phone with the dealer..taking it in next saturday to get fixed..poss getting a rental from them..they said only having 5800 miles its covered regardless

if it's in the shop longer than 8 hours, starting from when you hand them the keys, you get a rental.

Yea they said they are only open 8 to 1. If they need to order a part or if it takes too long then ill have a rental till monday at least

Update: went today when it was raining. Of course it wasnt doing it. Dude tried to tell me to come back. The mechanic said he would fix it. Ened up being the backin plate of the drum. He took both off, lubed them up no homo. Now it works great. He said it was common in cruzes and sonics.

I had this problem with my truck I just got I. The habit of doing it when I changed brakes
