I'm disappointed about no power increase, too. But I think you have RS confused with SS. The RS has always been mostly an appearance package with Chevy.

The exposed lower exhaust is a win in my book.
dont get me wrong i like what they have done to the sonic rs but still at less push out some more ponies would of be a BIG plus with the package.
yeah i'm just going to wait for a cobalt ss/tc replacement and then i'll put my order in since i missed out on the cobalt ss/tc being discontinued before i was ready to buy one.

hasn't hit the showroom floor yet, GM has been known to throw in a power bump here or there when a vehicle hits the lot...or underrating them.

Are the shocks and struts gonna be different parts or just lowering springs? Any chance the part #'s will be available before you can order the car?
I'm guessing it will on be a little lower and a little stiffer than the current Sonic which is exactly what I want.
Ideally, I'd like a set of Swift springs and Bilsteins but this could be a cheaper alternative.

GM performance parts is planning to launch a bunch of parts in their catalog in the fall, the e-mail and catalog specifically mention the sonic, right now its all the show type parts.
I'm sure RS parts and more "go" parts will be in there. The Pontiac vibe had a Supercharger listed in there so I'm sure we'll see all kinds of goodies soon.

I think it looks great, too. Whenever I see a "hot" version of a hatchback, I always ask my self, could I easily buy these parts myself in the aftermarket? I'd say yes to most of those, sans the gearing. I wonder how much more it'll cost?

No, I have never worked for Chevrolet. Worked for GMC Truck & Coach two different summers in the sixties and knew I did not want to build cars or trucks ever again, so eventually I got my MSW and worked as a social worker until I retired.
Thank you for the notice of appreciation. I enjoy researching and one of the areas I enjoy researching happens to be sporty Chevys.
As to going after market to build the RS equivalent, that is what I am doing and I am quite happy with the results so far. But if Chevy ever produces a Rally Yellow Sonic RS, w/ or w/o a different engine, I expect I will be trading in in a heartbeat. (Pun intended)
I am not a fan of Chevy leather and I admit to being suspicious of MyLink, but I am sure I would get over those impediments for the right car.

Ironic: depends on what you mean by good. $4000 to match what a $325 tune? Of course, one could then tune an engine not built for forced induction and beat the tuned 1.4T, at least for a moment until one beat the newly turboed 1.8.
