Kicker makes a 6.5 inch shallow mount woofer, have/had them in my firebird, might be a option to look into for some bass and clean look with out the need for a box.

The LS with the CD player and LT model have the same audio system as the LTZ, but the LTZ comes with the Bluetooth and steering wheel controls. I was a little disappointed in the audio at first but then I adjusted the EQ and now I think it sounds pretty good. I'm going to upgrade the speakers and add an amp and sub later on though.

Played around with my EQ today too, made a world of difference, bass up, treble up some, mid down a bit. Didn't actually try the presets yet. Honestly for a little car in this segment there's a pretty decent sound to it, actually think its better than the Bose my truck had. Doesn't have tremendous boom but more than enough for someone who prefers AC/DC and Zeppelin to Jay-Z. I'd think its a quality head unit since it has menus for stuff the DIC usually controls.

My LT has Bluetooth and steering wheel controls.
Mine too, but it was part of the optional Cruise & Connectivity package.
ok so, i just got the chevy sonic for college with the upgraded 6 speaker stereo system. I have two questions. First, i cant find anywhere that lists the sizes of the different speakers and their mounting depths. Second i got 2 kicker comp 12's for christmas and am going to go pick up a kenwood 1000W 2 channel amp to power them and i was wondering what the best way to install these by myself without replacing the stock head unit. thanks

people are saying its similar to the camaro head unit, there's a device to buy to tap in an amp easily, its in one of the threads on here.

Jason, have you got a sedan or hatchback? I'm curious as to where the additional two speakers are in the the 6 speaker upgrade. I had an 09 Aveo hatch with 2 in the hatch area and 1 each in in the front doors. Was let down by the sound quality, I like my classic rock!
The Aveo was recently written off in an accident recently and I'm getting a silver LT hatch with 17's and foglights in a couple of weeks, probably with just the standard set up. Happy to learn through postings and links on this forum about the small amps and digital sound processors that are available these days.

thank you LS1 and Casper, i have the sedan. i got the car the day after christmas but havnt seen since then due to it being at my dads house until after winter (he doesnt want anything to happen in bad weather) but im am about 90% sure the two additional speakers are up on the dash near each of the doors while the other 4 are in each of the doors. im not sure what the $350 upgrade got me besides the 2 additional speakers, if anyone wants to share i'd love to know

i think that also got you the connectivity plus the cd xm etc , from what i heard you can option these ones as barebones down to just am/fm radio

I just saw some interior shots on GM Canada site and noticed what looks like small speaker openings on the A(?) pillars up on the dash, I bet that is indeed the location of the other 2 speakers. Be great place for a decent set of tweeters. My appearance package, won't allow me the sound package (6 speaker set up) apparently, but I see a car in dealer inventory listed as having both packages, not my dealer though! Appearance package up here ( on LT) is 17's, fog lights, and sunroof. Cruise and steering wheel audio controls come with the LT trim so I will have that.
hmm, i didnt get cruise control or bluetooth or anything like that. i still have manual windows, i got cd player, 3 months xp, the aux jack and the 6 speakers but i cant find out how to hook an amp into a stock stereo. right now i need to get my amp, a wiring kit, and whatever i need to hook my amp into my head unit. i have my subs, iphone, and aux cord to connect iphone to the stock head unit. i have the money and the tools to do everything im just not sure exactly how. someone said something about the head unit being similar to the camaros and an adapter to tap into the radio but i cant find anything on it :/

Ya seeing how the rear speakers suck wind LOL . I dieing to replace them or just amp them up a little would be nice . I can't hardly hear them .
