Start Of My 1.8l Turbo System

An OEM manifold gasket is $10 at the dealer. Wouldnt that make a good enough template to get the dimensions from for a flange? Probably cheaper than shipping a complete manifold back and forth.

The gasket is a good idea. Never even thought about it. Either way. Let me know if I can help you out

Forgot that idea. Doy! I bought an extra 1.4 exhaust gasket a while back to use to outline the ports on my extra head. It would make a great template, just be sure to go at least .065" over on the bolt holes. The gasket holes are much tighter than the metal for obvious reasons.

I picked one up when i put the header back on. It was in stock and I think it was right around $10. If I can find the reciept I will post up the part number and cost.

What is this u ask? Well it is my FLANGE FOR THE MUH FUDGIN 1.8 TURBO CAR. akhm... yea its my flange ive been needing... Super excited to get that to me so it can become a header soon...

Found this. It's about $1700 plus shipping from UK. It maybe a direct bolt on for the 1.8.

Looking at Wikipedia (take it at face value, definitely needs more investigation), the 1.6T and 1.8 are both Family 1 engines. I imagine they would share the same exhaust flange configuration, but we need to get someone with a 1.6T to measure theirs. The 1.8 we can get from that BNR flange.

That charge pipe from the kit looks to be pretty short... Unless the 1.6 is using a different throttlebody location i dont know that itll make it to the 1.8 throttle body... Not that i care about the damn pipe... Im just stating. If one item seems out of place theres a change the rest of it is not so bolt on... However i am most definetly interested in what turns up on that 1.6 flange measurements.

Itd be a better way for the 1.8 guys to go turbo without the extent and construction im doing. Most likely cheaper as well...

That little guy is not meant to go to the throttle body. It runs to the intake filter. You're right though. there is still a lot of plumbing that would need to be done.

With that kit you'll probably need the intake manifold from the 1.6t which I would assume is set up the same as the 1.4t and the TB is oriented on the drivers side. Maybe Preloader or someone can dig up a pick of the 1.6t engine bay for reference.
