SuperCharger for the 1.8????

What did you drive before your sonic?

EDIT: Your car history says a vette... any you don't notice the extreme drag on the motor at low RPM when your A/C kicks on with a small motor? I am finding every single new car with a motor under 2 liters has this "problem".

I noticed it before I left but do not find it to be anywhere near a problem. I also shift a little higher than the average hyper miler.

Yeah, I try to keep it under 2500 rpm normal driving. If the AC compressor kicks on during a takoff or 1-2 shift it bogs pretty bad.

Keep it on Max A/C all the time and it will pretty much run all the time...lol I honestly didn't notice it bogging when the A/C was on but I had the car for just under 2 weeks and just over 600 miles. It's going to be like a brand new car when I get back and then I'm going to throw a Trifecta tune in it and go from there.

You're the man. I'm in Fl just below you and I run the hell out of my A/C, pretty much 3/4's of the year. I have my 4 1/2 year old son with me a lot so I like to keep him comfortable.

but seriously. i want a supercharger or a turbo in my 1.8!!! the gains would be amazing. (btw eff my warranty lol)

now would the 1.8turbo from a AUDI 1.8TURBO or VW JETTA 1.8TURBO WORK???

And if I left the impression of "don't do it, trade up" that is not what I meant to convey. Because I had a supercharger (RSM kit featuring a Vortech5) added to a Cavalier, my feeling is "I've been there and done that" but it seems to me to be a worthy endeavor. I push for supercharging because one can get excellent results with 6-8lbs of boost (easier on engine internals) where it takes twice as many lbs when turbocharging. But it is generally easier to do a physical upgrade when turbocharged where with the supercharger you are limited to pulley/belt for a physical upgrade. At least, that is how a remember it.

Of course one could go to a bigger supercharger, but a supercharger goes for $4500 to $6000. A lot of the expense for turbocharging (exhaust mods and intercoolers) will already be in place if one decides to install a bigger turbo.

I did have trouble with that post and rewrote it several times. Should have rewrote it at least one more time.

I just checked the Vortech site and their V-9 is at least a $1000 less than I expected. Based on their description, it may be somewhat smaller than the V-5 and it does not need an oil feed line, which should make installation easier.

I refer to Vortech because that was the brand I used and I was quite happy with the results.

I had a cavalier that had an Eaton M45 on it and then later a T3/T04E turbo. I actually prefered the supercharger.

Its hard to beat the sound of a roots type screaming away.
