Eh, you're just getting old. Maybe your brain is failing from being too close to Ann Arbor and those damn Wolverines...
I'd rather run a smallish turbo or have a larger gearing on the super because the gearing of this car is such that second is really long and I'd like a bit more down low so I can still run when I shift to second and not bog.

I would be ecstatic to see a forced induction 1.8 Sonic. Even 6lbs of supercharged boost should get 30 to 35hp at the wheel. Engine internals should be good up to 8lbs, one does not need an intercooler if 8lbs or less and not need a blow off valve if at 6lbs of supercharged boost. A centrifugal would not need a new intake manifold but I believe a Roots would in part cause it sets on top of the engine.

Yeah I am a UofM grad and my first acid trips would have been in Ann Arbor. People forget LSD was legal at one time, so your "dig" seemed less a dig and more a fairly good assessment to me. One can't get upset when faced with a truth.

On topic: as I have stated, I believe supercharging would be more cost effective than turbocharging, so that is another reason to consider it.

Wouldn't it be possible to adapt a lysholm? Iirc the Corrado had a supercharged 1.8 that could be converted to a twin screw via a BBM kit. A similar setup might work? That would give us our lower range boost where it's needed.
Can you tell I'm a Buckeye fan? Never done LSD though I did have a nice trip or two on some good greenery with my friends a while ago.

I am thinking a small twin-screw should work. My memory is a twin-screw supercharger is much more expensive than a centrifugal, but as GM uses them on their supercharged cars there may be an engineering advantage such as you describe.
I have no doubt it could be done, the question is cost-effectiveness.

I once owned a supercharged Cavalier ((RMS installed Vortech V5) and the boost would start below 2000 rpm. The Vortech V5 is a centrifugal supercharger.

Not sure what you mean by "stock" pulley, it was the RSM kit which included their pulley. And their tune.
