Thinking of Getting a Sonic

Is the 1.8L 5 speed manual pretty decent?

The 1.8 5M is a good car and I love mine but if you aren't going with the base LS I can't imagine passing up the turbo.

I have only driven my GF which is a 1.8 auto.

I want the 1.4 turbo manual.

What are all the models that they make?

1.4T 6 speed manual or 6 speed auto, 1.8 5 speed manual or 6 speed auto.

Yes and if you decide to mod it later the 1.4 is the way to go. Once a tune is flashed to the 1.4 it becomes a new car.

Thanks for all the replies! I am test driving this one tomorrow, low miles, used, and can add some upgrades to it like fog lights and such. Plus its the 1.4 turbo 6 speed manual I am looking for, and the price seems good.

I have the auto. I would have been a fool to turn down my sonic. There are deals out there but they may have options you are not looking for. I wanted a manual as I have not owned an auto in a long time. However, the auto with the 1.4 is better than I thought. It doesn't search for gears, or make poor choices in gear selection.

Once in a while it will aggressively downshift, but I do not mind that one bit.

Because... You know why.

Plus with manual mode you can choose when you want to shift so thats a plus.

Thanks again guys. I have a friend that knows a guy who owns a huge car dealership and just talked to him. He asked what I needed to have as far as engine, tranny, color, and said he will be looking for one and was sure they could locate what I am looking for.

Getting super excited. Now I am happy my Escalade is dying!!!

I find that a tad high, but I am a chiseler when it comes to buying a car.

I ended up not getting the vehicle because silver just wasnt doing it for me and my GF has a silver one too.

I am now looking at a 2013 LT with a Black enterior, 1.4 turbo with the manual trans.

The Dart is nice, however it has a issues that need to be addressed in the next year or two. I would say after seeing a few on my commute, the best looking in the class.

Well I test drove some cars today and I am torn between a used 2012 Cruze or a Sonic. The Cruze has more room but the Sonic seems like it might be more fun to drive. Ugh.

I hate being so indecisive!

I didnt mind the seats.

I just decided that I am going with the Sonic. Hopefully will be picking up a 2013 LT with the 1.4T manual transmission on Monday. I am looking to add the foglights to it and then I can be a Sonic owner!

WOOHOO!!! Signed the paperwork this morning and will be picking it up on Saturday!!!
They are adding foglights that I wanted.

I got:

2013 Sonic LT Sedan, Black Granite Exterior, Black/Grey Cloth Interior
1.4T with Manual 6 speed

I test drove it and INSTANTLY and fell in love. It's got some nice pickup for a little car and Saturday will take FOREVER to get here!!!

They tried to sell me on some protectant for the exterior and interior of the car for abou $800 and I declined that. Like I said I did have the foglights added and they will install those and have it ready on Saturday which in the next time I can make it there since it is about an hour and a half from where I live.

Future Sonic owner!!!!
