Weird noise when driving

So I've noticed this noise lately while driving. It even happens when I turn off the ignition and take it out of gear. The noise does get quicker the faster I'm going, then slows down as the car slows down.

This is a good clip of the noise I hear. It starts about 10 seconds in, you can hear it in the right ear and its like a squealy noise.

Any idea what it might be? Thought it was wheel related.

Can't see youtube at work, but if the noise frequency changes with road speed (as opposed to engine speed), then you have narrowed it down considerably: brakes or wheel bearing.

I honestly do not hear it, but I have damaged my eardrums blacksmithing for 20 years, so never mind that. Couldn't it also be clutch related?

Couldn't really tell from the video, but ahtoxa's right on. Brakes, tire, or wheel bearing. Does it change when you apply the brakes? Or turning left or right?

Swordsmith, I know you can't hear it, but on the second half of the video I accelerate, pop it into neutral and completely turn off the car.

Next time I drive I'll experiment with brakes and side to side, thank you.

Only noticed the noise when I was trying to record another noise I had which sounded like electrical buzzing, but it only happens if I hit little bumps driving 20+ with what I believe is only the drivers side

My car had this sound since it was new; it only just broke 800 miles today. What is that sound? My monthly OnStar e-mails are saying that there is no maintenance or repair work needed on my Sonic.

Have you considered taking a technician at your dealership for a test drive, dlee1001? Since it's so soon after purchase we'd definitely suggest making your dealership aware of your concerns. Keep us posted and if there's anything we can do to help, just PM us your VIN and contact information.

Just dropped it off at the dealership, transmission bearing was going out, they are going to replace it. If anybody else has this problem, that's it. I'll post the technician information when I get it.

I just experienced this same problem!! And the dealer neglected to take a look at it, rather they were to concerned with looking at my mods and telling me my warranty won't be covered and failed to tell me what was wrong. Next day I drove my car it completely shredded and tore apart! Cracked the seal and loss all fluid. Now I am stuck with a broke down car and idiot dealer not wanting to replace....

Wheels. Lowered. Intake. Exhaust. Shifter bushings. Upper engine mount. Lower tranny mount. And few others. Car was all stock other than the lowering springs and wheels when I took to the dealer. No computer work done yet was waiting for a couple pays. Anyway dealer has never seen or worked on car. One technician has seen my car before but never to work on and told service manager everything that was on car which is hear say. Anyway they won't cover due to my wheels and springs which have no effect and car has just under 50,000k miles and everyone is having this issue. Get it fixed fast and have car fully stock! It busted my case drained all fluid and ruined the tranny and now won't be replaced...

our local GM rep declined the warranty work due to what service told him in their report. I have been on phone with GM for past couple weeks. They finally called back to let me know that the regional GM rep declined the work and that is what they are going with... it's a joke!! I actually work at this dealership aswell!! Worse part about it I have been a GM employee at this dealership for 4 years now!!.. and my car got towed in last Tuesday and is still sitting there with no word from dealer.. I'm driving their loaner truck I will just mileage it out.
