I can coast all the way from the street into my spot if i come home late. but at 4:30PM after driving home it feels nice to set off a few alarms lol

I'm sure they hate me at 6:30AM when i cold start it to get to work. my roommate hears it upstairs and no longer needs an alarm clock.

Well, just drove for the first time on the highway this morning with this setup & noticed something odd. While cruising at 70 mph in 6th gear & applying steady throttle (gas), the rpm's would suddenly rise just a little ever so often (like a loping cam or something). My car was still cold & after I picked up my daughter I jumped back on the same highway, but didn't notice it again. I guess the cat warmed up enough so it stopped doing it. Has anyone else noticed this strange thing happening to their car with an open second cat while on the highway? It's fine while driving on the street, but it's sooo loud.

i think im going to remove the second cat and just put a turn down on a flange right there after the flex. ill get some pics and a video when its done.

You will have to make a hanger if you run aopen exh after the 2nd cat, the cat has the hangers that support the flex pipe.... I tried it for awhile using a bungee strap until it burnt thru and was rattling all over the place haha

i was just looking at that a bit ago, maybe ill leave the second cat in place for a while longer until i can get it straight piped.

Well decided to put my resonator back on & boy what a difference! It feels peppy again, odd cuz turbo cars usually love no back pressure but I guess the Sonic does. No more obnoxious cabin drone either, the exhaust sounds perfect now (not too quiet or loud, just right imho). It should've came like this from the factory, it really don't need a damn muffler. I love this setup, now on to lowering my 'lil beast!

Make sure you put a turn down on it. Don't want that hot exhaust burning anything, such as a parking brake cable. That's a true story, showed me I couldn't leave it on for 30 mins lol

If your just cutting off the muffler I would cut it just aft of the hanger in front of the muffler and throw a turn down on it if it looks like it could be blowing hot exhaust on anything important.

Once you cut the cat back the cat backs warranty is gone but nothing else is affected. Just make sure you're not melting anything back there and keep saving for a proper cat back. SLP is selling their cat back on their eBay page for 399 shipped.

i just want pipe with hangers after the flex pipe. ~$200 from a local shop but i can't find anyone with a mandrel pipe bender

Buy the sections and have the shop weld them together....lol

This place has builders kits that are more than reasonable and they even have slip fit kits so all you would need is hangers and good clamps.
