What he said..
It's not unusual to feel the car jerk. I usually shift at like 2k-3k.
You guys shift at some incredibly low points in general aside from 1st or 2nd gear my shifts are around 4500-5900rpm
I thought I read in the owner's manual that you shouldn't shift to "M" from "D" when moving... maybe I'm wrong but I thought it said something about the car losing control? Maybe I was dreaming lol..
I could be wrong, and someone will correct me if I am... but from what my Ultragauge instant MPG tells me, it doesn't really matter what gear you're in or where your RPM's are, it's how far you're pushing the pedal down.
I can be redlined and get 40-50+ MPG if my foot is off the pedal. So to me shifting early doesn't make a difference, so long as you're light on the pedal all the way through the gear.

The beauty of vvt
You basically maybe at 4k but not quite hittiing the pedal but once youre more into it that 4k with the tps and phaser opened up basically vtecs. It seems to work best in mode or straight manual
