ive always pondered the difference between pro charger and super charger?
Fun fact: When turbos were invented way back when, they were called turbo super chargers.
ProCharger is a manufacturer. They make super chargers.

From what I understand though, they axed it for the reasons you mentioned above, most of all the cost.
If you are thinking the other ECOtec models sold in the US, I highly doubt it. Maybe a Z18XE or a handful of the A16LE_ engines. Seeing as how the LNF, LSJ, L61, and whatever the 2.4 engines are called use a different layout for the manifolds, I suspect the ports are also completely different, either way they probably would not fit between the engine and firewall without getting in the way of something.
don't get me started its a dumb design in my opinion why wouldn't u have the exhaust int he back so it just flows n the intake infront so its right there.. cheap ass mofos
:sadbanana:
Perhaps it has to do with heat and noise being further from the firewall?
I doubt that since in the J bodies (third gen) three of the engines had the exhaust at the back and two had it at the front. The two at the front were the lowest power option for their time. Seeing as how the basic engine our A18XER is based on has been in use for quite some time, finding the first platform the basic engine platform was used in would be the best chance of finding out why the exhaust is at the front.
