So you have an automatic in your car right now? I was assuming you had a manual. I really see no point in swapping from one auto to another auto.

I would have to swap in the auto from a 1.4 for it to adapt to the 2.4

The 1.4 trans has the same bell housing pattern as the 1.8 trans as far as i can tell. It wont work with the 2.4L. If you want a car with the 2.4, just buy one with it. In the end it will probably be far cheaper than trying to make a 2.4 fit and work in your car. Its not as simple as just swapping the engine and being set.

I want a Quad 4 in my car, but the only way that could happen would be to custom make a lot of parts, wiring harness, computer, and probably find a way to re work every module in the car so that things would actually function correctly.

I've compared both and the holes for the engine mount bolts are different, and I believe that the 6t30 is only for the 1.8 and the 6t40/6t45 is used for various engines

Ok, so you've determined that you need engine mounts.

Now you need to look at electronics, from the PCM to the ABS sensors and airbag sensors.... Everything is different.

Don't forget piping to hook up the cooling system.
Or new axles for that new transmission.

The list goes on and on like mitdr said


I'm in the middle of this with my 86 Fiero, I'm putting in a new engine and retaining the factory manual transmission, a swap that has already been done hundreds of times before, and it is still very difficult.
You are trying to do a swap that has never been done, not only an engine swap, but a tranny swap too.

Hope your checkbook is ready for some exercise.
