I we t back to the dealership today (Chevrolet Bellevue), the same guy who did the previous update now did his homework. He personally talked to me and told me he did some research and knows the issue and what to do to fix it.

I came back a couple of hours later and the radio is all fixed and working as expected. No more backup camera service warning when doing a reverse, pandora and stitcher are back in the smartphone link, and more importantly, Bringgo is there, plus a bonus, tunein radio app was there too! So happy coz I can use it to listen to radio stations from my home country!

By the way, I tested Bringgo by using it to give me direction going home. It wasn't the best gps I've used, but it definitely works!

Overall, I'm happy! oh and my wife loves it too!

after my update, I was able to use my Bringgo. but lately I am having issues with mylink.

first, it crashed while using Bringgo. the turn-by-turn voice just stopped working. When I parked my car, I found out that MyLink crashed. It only worked after leaving the car engine off for a little bit.

second time it happened, while my iPhone is plugged in to play some music, I cannot click on any button from the display or my steering wheel for the music controls, music is still playing. same thing, it started working again after turning off the engine and starting the car back up.

third time, I was just listening on regular FM radio. I noticed that the time stopped but the music is still playing. I cannot click on the button controls.

I am going to take it back to the dealer but wondering if anyone had similar issues after the update.

Had the MyLink update done last Friday, it stills goes back to channel 1, every so often (approx. 4-5 times since update) unfortunately Bringgo doesnt support my android device :-(

After telling me on the phone they new all about the update I get to the dealer and they tell me there is no update, then once I made them check they tried to talk me out of doing the update as it may brick my radio.... Well they did it and did not even brick my radio. While it was there they performed a recall it service bulletin (not sure which it was) on both front sway bar links.

While doing all this work along with my free oil change.... They some how managed to put two small dents on the top of my trunk deck.... Needless to say the free oil changes are not worth me ever taking my car back to this dealer.

Anyways just venting....

Mine still does the same thing. I took it back along with my free oil change and they could not duplicate it. It's annoying... I made some videos for them to watch like, radio turns on after locking the car with the fob and radio freezes are just the few.

I took my Sonic RS back to the dealership to look a the MyLink radio problem I have had after the update to get Bringo and Tunein. Lucky for me, the radio screwed up again on the way there, and I took pictures of the screen in different modes ("Service Backup Camera, 01/01/2006 date and 8:00 pm time, etc). The dealership got the mechanic who did the update to come up and speak with me, and I showed him the screen shots (he had difficulty doing the initial update, so they ordered a new radio on my previous visit-- and it worked for 2 days before these things happened). He will check the radio out, probably order a replacement (again) and see what happens.

I had a problem with the driver's side seatbelt on the pillar, where it made a loud rattle noise when I leaned forward or simply hit a bump in road (it's right @ my left ear when it does this), and there's 2 open recalls for the Sonic that they are doing (E85 sticker under the hood and a reprogram of the PCM so a burned out turn signal bulb will trip a result/code on the dash if it happens).

They got my a rental car, I picked a Sonic 1.8L auto sedan over a Cruise (gives me a chance to compare that setup to my RS)... 70 mph = 2500 rpm in the rental Sonic vs. 70 = 3000 rpm in my RS. That 500 rpm difference is what drops the RS gas mileage to ~34 mpg highway (max).

Now just a wait and see what they find out.

*Got my car back, radio was reflashed. Worked for 3 days.... Sunday, put the car in reverse. Same problem. I pulled the fuse to the radio (to reset it)... and the radio did a "reset" and booted up, all presets, etc... working. Just a matter of time before it does it again, and I'll have to manually reset the damn radio to fix it.

I took pictures of the display when it went haywire (on Sunday), and under the HW/SW section, no sw version is listed.

The unreliability of the radio has me concerned still.

That's awful... Quite a bit of frustration for your extra two hundred bucks to get that thing.

Can't they downgrade the thing to an older (read: flaky but not this flaky) version?

I am going to keep my car far, far away from a dealer until they can get this sorted. I don't want them to be nice and do a "favor" by giving me this update without my approval. Mine returned to channel 1 5 times yesterday, if that's the one big thing I have to complain about I guess I'll live with it.

Hmm, maybe we need to figure out how to clone these things and get an image off of yours. Maybe GM would even be interested.

They should all be clones, each a carbon copy of the one preceding it on the assembly line. Which is why I raised the question regarding could there be something external to the MyLink head unit that is causing the problem.

But like I said, I am one of the least tech savvy members of this forum: for example, I did not learn how to post a picture until after I joined this forum.

I thought about that... considering they had to replace the original headunit due to the tech not being able to complete the update (75% then it locked up). Does everyone's Mylink show the splash screen @ startup (assuming radio on)? Mine RARELY has done this, and it's hit and miss attempting to force it to do so. GM called me today, and they are looking into the issue again. I asked to have someone who's involved with the development of the radio/Mylink system to contact me, as it sure seems like there's got to be something involved between putting the car in reverse (triggers the entire event with "service camera" and all the haywireness from there). Not once has the radio gone haywire and lost time (01/01/2006 8:00 PM) without first getting the "service camera" crap when I put it into reverse.

They could give me a new car after my next trip, right? Lemon law.

I rarely see the MyLink splash screen on mine with the older MyLink version. IIRC often just goes straight to XM that I was listening to prior. It seems every time I do see the splash screen, it shows up very faint and it generally indicates something is about to go wrong with the radio... i.e. it's going to hang on the splash screen for a while and suddenly start working normally, or it's going to freak out and go back to channel 1.

Once about 2 weeks ago it just hung on the splash screen in full brightness for at least 30 seconds. I think I had to try to cycle power to it via the power button to get it to do anything.

The last couple of weeks, I've turned the ignition on to see it display the previously listened to XM channel with no song information and no audio, then displays "Channel not available" and then the channel changes to XM 1 and it starts playing audio.

Not liking the reviews of the MyLink update I see here. I'm at the dealer waiting on my update so I can have navigation for my road trip coming up. They didn't seem to know of any update, so we will see what happens.

I read a bit through this thread b ut stopped after page 13-14 of 56. Can anyone tell me where we stand with a MyLink Hack to play video while in motion? or other apps? Also has anyone tried, in park, to play a full length movie from a USB? I downloaded the Avengers.mp4 and loaded it onto a USB drive. it plays on the computer no problem. Plug it into the Sonic's usb. It acknowledges that it is a video file. But it only says Unsupported File Type. even though mp4 IS s supported format. Is it simply because it it too large a file? (its 2.19Gb)


My specs, 2013 Sonic LT with MyLink and 1.4L Turbo 6 Speed Manual.

Per my memory no one has come up with a hack to show movies on the MyLink screen while the vehicle is in motion and I have over the course of time been reading the posts in this thread.

Your finding that a movie on a thumb drive playable on a computer but not on MyLink has been posted but I do not recall an answer that provided a solution.
