For example, the corvette has been using plastic leaf springs for some time. (yes, if your not familiar with corvette, it has LEAF SPRINGS, on the FRONT and REAR.
and its actually a great setup as far as packaging and control go).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the dealers DO get paid by GM for warranty work, right? I should probably just make the drive back to where I bought it, as Dave Smith is the only Dealership that I've been to that really takes customer service seriously. The problem is that it's about 90 miles away..
I'll update when I hear from the dealer.
Mine's starting to get worse, I notice is most on roads that have uneven joints or cracks in the pavement. Not big bumps, but little rattles. I did notice that if I'm on the brakes a bit, the noise seems to go away, so I'm not entirely sure if it's the sway bar link or something in the strut / caliper. I guess I'll finally an appointment to take it in.
Vanessa, unlike your concern on this forum, most of the dealers I go to treat us customers like we're totally crazy when we go in.. I can't wait to take a rep for a ride and hear from them, "I don't hear anything" or "that's normal." Then, not only have I wasted 2 hours of my time, but I have to go repeat the process at a dealership somewhere else.

Was told today that there is a TSB for front end clunk and/or squeaking. TSB calls for a strut replacement. Dealer ordered a new strut to be delivered and installed tomorrow.
You're doing the correct thing by taking it to the dealer to rid the noise.

Just got done at the dealership, they couldn't find the source of the noise. They were really nice about it, and even invited me back to look, the swaybar links were snug, and nothing moved on the wheel through the suspension travel, but the sound is still there. I took the service rep for a drive, and the roads around the dealership are really good, so I had to drive for a while to find some bumps, but he couldn't hear it. His quote was "that's just the strut moving." Maybe I'm just being really picky, but I hear it, and it only started around 1000 miles ago (at around 8000).
We have a really rough section of freeway running through Spokane, made of concrete with exposed round rocks that really sets it off. If I lightly apply the brakes, the noise stops. This tells me it's either something loose in the caliper (which it isn't, the guy verified torques right in front of me), or something in the strut itself that stops making noise when there's angular torque applied to it.
On an interesting note, he did point out that the plastic splash shield rattled when he hit it with his fist, so he ran a screw into the spot where it rattled to keep it from rattling. This gave me hope, but as I drove back to work, it's still there..
I guess I'll just wait til it's worse, then take it back in. I don't believe it's dangerous, but it's kind of saddening to buy a new car and have it rattle in 6 months. What's worse is that the car is SO awesome except for this issue...

I took my car to the dealer. The service manager took one listen to the steering while sitting still and immediately agreed that something was not right. They are looking at it right now.
Keep us posted.
