SUBS SOLVED MY PROBLEM :
MTX terminator series, only 220$ on sonicelectronix. sounds amazing, and the only reason i felt like the original system was bad was becuase of the lack of bass from the back speakers. So these helped alot.... maybe too much and whoever wonders, the only thing that rattles in or on the car is the lisence plate. everything else is just vibrating but staying strong and tight. :banana:

I see the screw at the grab handle. Where is the other?

Behind a cover that is behind the inside door handle.

if thats with the limiter im sure i can run more wire or find the restrition and remove it. there are 2 nice little white boxes right above the wire that tap into the harness that may be what those are? no idea what they do lol

thts 1 screw if i remember right there is a second one but i cant remember where, i wana say 2 screws per door.

With the door open, there is a second up at the mirror I had not seen. With the one Andrew is showing, that makes three. I knew the back door had a screw at the latch handle. In any case I know where to check for them and shouldn't have any trouble figuring it out as I go.

This is awesome information. Thanks to all who are providing it. Please keep the play by plays coming because we are all going to need to replace those speakers. Really interested to know if the limiter is found. Can't wait for one of the path-finders to fire up their new setup and relay their results. Thx

Hey older folks like great sound

I have read all thru this thread and am glad it was not just me that found the speakers really lame. I may be a senior lady, but I like my music to sound good all around. I can't begin to understand the technical stuff most of you are talking about, so I'm going to try the settings someone mentioned and see what that does. Seems silly to have XM radio with such a weak radio system.

I pulled out my features sticker and verified I am supposed to have "audio system premium sound with 6 speakers". If this is premium I hate to hear the standard. I don't want to take it to an after market place until there is enough experience with the Sonic. And forget the dealer, can imagine what that would cost.

Count me in as also being a bit disappointed with the sound system. I came from a Chrysler whose sound system was very punchy, although rather bloated in the bass and lacking in higher frequencies. The Sonic's system is quite a contrast to that. The advice I've read here about using the fader to direct more sound to the rear speakers since they are mostly lower-frequency speakers has helped a little, though. I'm not terribly picky about my car sound system but do like a bit of punch in my music.

I adjusted the bass/treble/middle as was suggested, although I added a bit more bass, then changed the fader to 11 to rear and the sound is better. Not great, but definitely an improvement. What does the equalizer do, I selected pop, but didn't see any difference??

Those are preset tones, with bass/treble/mid pre-programmed for a particular genre of music. I prefer to adjust my own settings, to each their own.

Did anyone ever determine the rear speaker color codes and where to access them? I'm thinking about just bypassing them and installing a set of 6x9's in the rear deck with an Infinity Basslink.

Why not just put some good 6.5's in the rear doors and the basslink? Be easier then cutting holes for 6x9s in the back deck...and look better than 6x9 boxes...

Honestly though, that would be good sound, and it good shake the car enough but not too much.
My 2000 cavalier coupe had the stock speakers in the doors, but I put 2 Sony Xplod 6x9s in the rear window deck and it rocked the car, i was able to shake my tassle hanging from the rear view as well as shake the rear view mirror in cars next to me...

If you can make the speakers in the rear deck look good and not ghetto, it would be nice. the only problem is access from the trunk, there is no room to mount speakers without having to do some serious metalwork.

My car is a hatch. I was thinking I could put a quick connect on the speaker wires and just remove the deck lid when required.

or u can get a sub and put it under the deck lid and use that as a box, thats what i do

I will say this system does sound a lot better when your using CD or Aux in rather than FM. When the XM signal is perfect it sounds great but spotty service areas it starts to get a hint of the internet radio sound.

lol never thought of that. i think i used a total of 1 day xm/fm in my car lol i stick to my ipod/pandora so it always sounds good for me.
