As an audiophile I have learned that when your fader is properly adjusted you should barely notice sound coming from the rear unless you lean back. If your rear levels are too high you'll mess up the whole dynamic over well produced music.
This reply is not to the way the speakers work or do not work but is to state that what happened to you as regards OnStar interrupting is standard and will happen to every OnStar equipped Chevy several weeks after activation and a few weeks before expiration.
The voice is clear and not subject to being unheard, so to that extent OnStar can mess with your settings, but, it will only happen once. This interruption is one of the benefits of driving an OnStar equipped vehicle and could be one reason why I am such a dedicated fan of OnStar.

I understood there is a problem regarding the settings. My attempt to respond to your concern about OnStar was not meant to address the question about the settings but only my perception that you had a question about OnStar and how it does its marketing.
Please accept my apology for inadequately distinguishing the one from the other when I attempted to answer half of your question. I will leave it to those who know to answer the other half.

Gee, 'ya think? I too am an audiophile. I'm 52 years old. My name is Mike. I've had cars with both custom and stock systems; too many to count. As a former professional musician, I know all about dynamics.
The FACT is ALL Sonics I tested (including mine) had powerful sound from the rear speakers - hence, my R2 fader setting. Now that has suddenly changed. R7 is barely adequate. Please review my previous facts and comments. I know what I'm talking about. Thanks.![]()
I wasn't directing my input towards you or suggesting that you were audio ignorant. However this IS a forum, and more specifically a thread in a forum about rear speakers. I was offering a perspective to the other 10,000+ viewers that may read this and suddenly feel the need to power up the rear.
Hopefully someone that didn't already know how the rears should be leveled will read it and benefit.
try something like 9-5-12 thats my fav
Thanks for posting this! Using your favorite as a reference, my fav is 9-5-8!
Just to make sure, as it caught me off guard originally, the settings for treble, bass and midrange are separate for every source. So you can have more bass on XM than CD, for example. It's a rather nice feature that can look like a reset instead of a preference for the individual source.
